Exchanging Time For Currency
How many times have we said “I don’t have time to do that” or “I don’t know how you find the time to do that”? The interesting thing about time is, each and every one of us is given the same amount of time each day. Time can’t be bought, it can’t be paused and doesn’t discriminate. So, why can some people run successful businesses while others can’t seem to find the time to even read a book?
Let’s exchange time for currency. Say I gave you an investment of $1 million and told you that if you could invest it wisely, you will make $100 million and have financial freedom and the opportunity to spend more time with your family. Of course you are going to invest that money wisely!
Why then do we not invest our time with the same outlook and attitude? We spend hours scrolling through Social Media news feeds, watching television shows and procrastinating until things absolutely need to be done. Then, on the flip side, we sometimes fill our days with so much that we are always running out of time to do even the basic every day things like clean the house, do the washing and have a relationship with our family and partners.
The Trick is Balance
Each and every one of us is given 24 hours a day to spend wisely. Set the alarm in the morning and have a plan of attack for how you are going to spend each hour of your day, from when you wake up to when you go to sleep and evaluate what you are spending your time on. Treat time as preciously as we treat money because the reward is far more richer than money, it is a currency that can’t be bought.
There will never be the perfect time to launch a business. We must create the time and prioritise what is important to us not just for today, this week, this month or this year, but for the rest of our lives.
